Title: “In Order that”

Scripture: Genesis 18:19

The Lord said, “For I have chosen him (Abraham), in order that he may command his children and his household after him that they may keep the way of the Lord by doing righteousness and justice; in order that the Lord may bring upon Abraham what He has spoken about him.”

Observation: What is God saying to me?

There is an order of fulfillment and blessing. It is not a “given” and should not be “taken for granted.” The Lord makes promises over our lives but we must do our best to fulfill our end of the deal. We will never do this perfectly, but it’s important that we do the best we can with what we have where we are. God has chosen you, called you and made a plan for you. “In order that” all of these promises come to fruition, do the best you can, with what you have, where you are. He is your helper. Accept His help and let Him lead you to a good land.

Application: What will I do about it?

Oftentimes people do not take personal responsibility for walking in the destiny God has laid out for them. They act as if no matter what they do God is going to do what He wants. This is not the God of the bible. God partners with people to bring about destiny and results on earth. You can’t steer a parked car. Our actions and decisions have bearing and direction for our future. Now is the time to reset and partner with the Holy Spirit as we move into the blessing God has for us.

Prayer:

Holy Spirit, cause our hearts to desire to do Your will. Reset the motivations of our hearts to desire righteousness and justice. We accept the gift of life found in Jesus and hold onto the hope that good is our future as we take action according to Your will. Guide us Holy Spirit, in Jesus’ name. Amen
