Title: “Track Record of Trust”

Scripture: Genesis 22:2,3

2 He said, “Take now your son, your only son, whom you love, Isaac, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I will tell you.” 3 So Abraham rose early in the morning and saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him and Isaac his son; and he split wood for the burnt offering, and arose and went to the place of which God had told him.

Important Backstory:

Abraham was nearly 100 years old when his beloved son, Isaac was born. Isaac was the son God promised Abraham. It was already a miracle that Isaac was born. For God to test Abraham by asking him to sacrifice Isaac, the son of promise was a really big deal. He was being asked to place his most precious gift and promise on the altar and burn him. Get the picture of burning the person you love most in the world. Gut wrenching, right!

Observation: What is God saying to me?

How much do you trust Me? When I give you a gift or fulfill a promise to you, are you ok with Me taking it away? Do you trust Me no matter what My decision is? Will you respond with immediate obedience like Abraham did? He got up early the next morning, wasted no time and went straight toward what He heard Me say. Child, you can trust Me. Sometimes I test you so that you can trust Me and trust yourself.

Small moves of discipline and obedience create a track record of trust when circumstances require serious gut wrenching obedience. A track record of trust enables faith to obey in any circumstance. Trust Me with all your heart. I don’t test you to hurt you, I test you to train you to trust Me no matter what comes your way.

Application: What will I do about it?

Simple, small obedience produces simple serious obedience when the going gets tough. Pay attention to the whispers of the Spirit in your mind and conscience. Write them down when you hear them, act on them as soon as possible. Then, over time you’ll have a track record of trust and be ready for whatever comes your way.

Prayer:

Father God, we want to trust you no matter what comes our way. When you say it, we obey it. That’s our motto. No questions asked, just straight up obedience. For the one who is listening to this today, enable this to be our reality! In Jesus Name, Amen!

I Am Grateful For… a developing track record of trust
