Neal’s Lit Word

Title: “Steadfast Mind”

Scripture: Proverbs 3:1-6

1 My son, do not forget my teaching,
But let your heart keep my commandments;
2 For length of days and years of life
And peace they will add to you.
3 Do not let kindness and truth leave you;
Bind them around your neck,
Write them on the tablet of your heart.
4 So you will find favor and good repute
In the sight of God and man.
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart
And do not lean on your own understanding.
6 In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He will make your paths straight.

Observation: What is God saying to me?

In a dark and distracting world, one that has enemies that want to take your trust and turn it to lesser things, you have to stay on guard. Guard the gateway of your mind and heart. Whatever has your attention has your devotion. Whatever has your devotion has your heart. To guard your heart from distracting attacks you must guard your mind from losing focus. Your job is not to fight the fight alone. Your job is to keep Me at the center of your attention. When your sights are set on Me, My sights are set on protecting you. Eyes on Me and you will stay in perfect peace. Isaiah 26:3 “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in You.” Command your mind to stay focused on Me. I will handle everything else for you.

Application: What will I do about it?

Throughout the day, I need to stay in constant Spirit filled communication with Jesus. I will use my mind, imagination and mouth to stay centered on the reality of the presence of God. Throughout the day I will take breaks in my busy schedule to recenter and refocus on Jesus and His very real presence in my life.

Prayer:

Holy Spirit, remind me throughout the day of your presence. Help my mind to stay focused and centered on You today Lord. You are not only the answer to every need but also the foundation on which we stand. In Jesus name. Amen!

I Am Grateful For… a heart and mind that are fixed on the answer… Jesus.
