Neal’s Lit Word

Title: “Grass Isn’t Greener”

Scripture: Jeremiah 42:12-14

12 ‘I will also show you compassion, so that he will have compassion on you and restore you to your own soil. 13 But if you are going to say, “We will not stay in this land,” so as not to listen to the voice of the Lord your God, 14 saying, “No, but we will go to the land of Egypt, where we shall not see war or hear the sound of a trumpet or hunger for bread, and we will stay there.'

Observation: What is God saying to me?

The instruction and direction of the Lord is always better than what you conjure up in your mind thinking you have the best plan. Your plan is not the best plan, what looks like the easy way is not always the blessed way.

The key to blessing is to be where I have planted you. When I plant in a place, blessing will be the result. When you care more about comfort and what looks like the easy way with no consideration for where I want you, life will be tough. I want to bless you and plant you in a land that is flowing with good things. Commit to My way above every other way and watch as I flourish you in the land.

Application: What will I do about it?

We can’t look at our circumstances and try to escape from them. Instead of setting our minds on what might be light in a different circumstance or situation we should set our minds on what God is up to in our current situation. If He is calling us to repent, then repent. If He is simply saying “stay the course” then stay the course. Set your mind on receiving the mind and direction from the Holy Spirit no matter your circumstances.

Prayer:

Jesus, You are the perfect guide. You know what we need and how to correct us to stay on course. Thank You for loving us enough to show us the way. We will follow you! Amen!
