Neal’s Lit Word

Title: “Word Famine”

Scripture: Amos 8:11

“Behold, days are coming,” declares the Lord God, “When I will send a famine on the land, not a famine for bread or a thirst for water, but rather for hearing the words of the Lord.”

Observation: What is God saying to me?

Many people in the world today are starving for My words. People are famished and malnourished because they are not feeding on the true bread of life, My words. They are in search of something that will satisfy a deep longing they have within themselves but they are not turning in the right direction to find this satisfaction. When they turn to Me, I will satisfy their longing with bread from heaven, My words. When they turn to false Gods to satisfy this longing, I will leave them hungry until they realize their error and turn to Me.

Application: What will I do about it?

Daily discipline and diligence to get into the Word is essential. We must turn to Jesus like a famished soldier who’s only hope is to receive bread from the Son of God. The person with this type of longing does not leave the table dissatisfied. This type of longing moves the heart of God to feed His kids. Today, we must long for the Living Word.

Prayer:

Holy Spirit, feed us today! Cause our hearts to yearn for Your Word and satisfy us with the touch of Your hand. In Jesus’ Name! Amen!
