Title: “Giver of Pleasure” 

Scripture: Jeremiah 17:7-8 

7 “But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord,

whose confidence is in him.

8 They will be like a tree planted by the water

that sends out its roots by the stream.

It does not fear when heat comes;

its leaves are always green.

It has no worries in a year of drought

and never fails to bear fruit.”

Observation: What is God saying to me? 

In a world full of riches, pleasures and comforts it can be easy to place trust in the wrong things. Like betting on the losing team time and time again, so it is for all who place their trust in anything other than Me (The Lord). I am the One who causes you to succeed or to fail. I am the One who brings riches, pleasures and comforts. Placing your trust in anything other than Me dishonors our relationship and reveals your root issue. When you place all confidence in Me, I will plant you, water you, protect you, grow you and keep you fruitful in all circumstances. Blessed is the one who trusts in Me. 

Application: What will I do about it?   

Comforts, riches and pleasures are certainly not a problem, they are a blessing. The problem comes when we forget that these blessings come from God and begin to trust the comfort instead of the comforter. 

Today, we will place our eyes on the one who brings comfort, riches and pleasure with grateful hearts. Pray prayers of gratitude today for the comforts, riches and pleasures God has blessed us with. 

Prayer: 

Holy Giver, You know when to withhold and when to bless. You know when to correct and when to caress. We take comfort today in You and not the blessing. We accept our current circumstances and will respond with trust, hope and faith! Amen!
