Neal’s Lit Word

Title: “Night Watches”

Scripture: Psalm 63:6-8

When I think of You as I lie on my bed, I meditate on You during the night watches because You are my helper; I will rejoice in the shadow of Your wings. I follow close to You; Your right hand holds on to me.

Observation: What is God saying to me?

My child, the nights can be overwhelming when you don’t have your sights fixed on what is good and right. When you lie on your bed in the middle of the night, does overwhelm show up to steal your peace? With a shift in trust you can have a different experience. I want you to begin to see Me differently. Rather than thinking of yourself as alone and abandoned to deal with life’s problems on your own, begin to see it differently. You can refill your joy (rejoice) by hiding in Me. Turn from dark thinking, invite light (Jesus) to bring a new way of thinking. Begin to see yourself differently by hiding in Me. Follow close to Me, jump under My covering. Command your mind to get in line with Me. You never have to walk alone unless you choose to. Change is a choice that begins with coming to Me. This is a free offer that requires a wholehearted commitment to My covering. Then you will experience shelter when the darkest night wants to steal your joy. Then you will be filled with joy and peace will allow you to rest in My care.

Application: What will I do about it?

Accept the offer. When going into agreement with someone, you can’t just leave the offer on the table. Instead, you sign the contract and pay the price if it’s worth it to you. Accept the offer with your mouth and sign the contract with constant action-based commitment to staying close to Jesus.

Prayer:

Lord, that is what You are. You are the Lord of everything, the highest power, because You created all things. Fighting gravity is a losing battle. Living contrary to your flow is a tiring game. Today, we submit to Your Spirit and thank You for the gift of joy and peace that comes from not fighting against our Maker. Instead we choose to hide in the shelter of your wings.

In Jesus, this is possible. Amen!

I Am Grateful For… covering in Christ Jesus.
