Neal’s Lit Word

Title: “Opposite Outcomes”

Scripture: Judges 14:5-9

5 A young lion came roaring toward Samson, 6 and the Spirit of the Lord came upon him mightily, so that he tore the lion as one tears a kid (baby goat) with his bare hands. 8 When he returned later to look at the carcass of the lion; a swarm of bees and honey were in the body of the lion. 9 So he scraped the honey with his hand and went on eating the honey.

Observation: What is God saying to me?

Sometimes things come at you and attack you so I can make some points to you. 1. When My Spirit comes upon you no lion (or attacker) will overpower you. In fact, you can shred them into pieces. 2. What was intended to kill you can later become the very thing that feeds you. 3. When you endure the attacks of the enemy, sweetness can be the outcome.

Application: What will I do about it?

Don’t view every attack as a tragedy, instead trust that our gracious God can train you through the opposition.
1. He will show you who He is.
2. He will show you who you are when you allow His strength to come upon you.
3. He will feed you sweetness as a result.

Go about the business you are called to be about. Don’t focus on the opposition, focus on the path you are called to walk and God will work the miracle along the way.

Prayer:

Holy Spirit, we welcome Your wonders to train us along the way. Despite our struggles to stay faithful, fulfill Your plans for us anyway. Without You, we could never shred a lion, without You we could never be fed sweetness from the carcass. With You, all things are possible. Amen!
