Neal’s Lit Word

Title: “The Voice that Calls”

Scripture: 1 Samuel 2:7,10

7 Now Samuel did not yet know the Lord, nor had the word of the Lord yet been revealed to him.
10 Then the Lord came and called as He did the other times, “Samuel! Samuel!” Samuel replied, “Speak, for Thy servant is listening.”

Observation: What is God saying to me?

Knowing Me is personal and intimate. When I call your name, just as Samuel didn’t understand who it was that was speaking, there have been many times that you did not understand it was Me calling. Rest assured, I am calling to you. I want to speak with you personally and I want you to truly understand My voice. When I call, the proper response is that of Samuel, “Speak Lord, your servant is listening.”

Application: What will I do about it?

Hearing the call of God is the most important voice we can hear. When we learn to identify what God’s voice sounds like we can tune the frequency of our ear to hear His voice. God is living and active, He wants a relationship with us. Relationships are based on communication, and that communication is two ways. God wants to speak to us, we in turn need to respond and communicate with Him.

Prayer:

Speak Lord, Your servant is listening. We want to hear your voice. Your voice changes our lives. Help us to understand what You are saying to us and act on everything You say. Amen!
