Neal’s Lit Word

Title: “Dog on a Leash”

Scripture: Psalms 103:2-5
Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget none of His benefits;
Who pardons all your iniquities;
Who heals all your diseases;
Who redeems your life from the pit;
Who crowns you with loving kindness and compassion;
Who satisfies your years with good things,
So that your youth is renewed like the eagle.

Observation: What is God saying to me?
Our soul, which is our mind and will, are like spoiled children who always want to stray and do whatever they want. We have to tell our soul, to bless the Lord. We have to command and remind our mind and will who is boss.
The spoiled child is not the boss, and if you let the spoiled child continually get its own way, it's much harder to get them back in line.

Application: What will I do about it?
We have to keep a short leash on our mind and will. We can’t let our mind wander too far before yanking on the leash. If we give our mind too much slack we end up getting tangled up in a mess again.

The answer is to fear the Master. The fear of the Lord keeps us in check. When we acknowledge deep in our being that He knows what's best and that we will destroy our lives if we keep choosing our own way, then we can stay close to the Lord like a Dog on a leash.

The difference is this… we don’t stay close to the Master because He is mean. We stay close to the Master because He loves us and always knows and gives what is best to us.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank you for calling me home each time I wander. Thank you for always showing love to me know matter how tangled up I get in my messes. You are my healer and the Lover of my soul. In Jesus Name, Amen.

I Am Grateful For… healing and love when I wander.
