Freedom 250 — Kern River Radio's 4th of July Special
On July 4th, 2026, Kern River Radio's own Neal and Amie Lyons-Preston took listeners on a two-hour journey through 250 years of American history — from the musket fire at Lexington Green to the shores of Normandy, from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial to the surface of the Moon. Built on four pillars — Faith, Family, Freedom, and Sacrifice — this special features the actual words of the men and women who built this country: Patrick Henry's "Give me liberty or give me death," Lincoln's Gettysburg Address, FDR's Pearl Harbor address, Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream," Neil Armstrong's first words from the Moon, and more. Along the way, Neal and Amie share a deeply personal moment — the story of Amy's grandfather, Master Sergeant Clifford David Lyons, a 15-year-old Marine from Arkansas who went straight from boot camp to the beaches of Normandy on D-Day and survived to tell the tale. The program closes with a live prayer over the Kern River Valley and a send-off into the Lake Isabella fireworks show. Featuring patriotic country music including "America Will Survive," "Where the Stars and Stripes and Eagles Fly," "Ragged Old Flag," "God Bless the USA," "Where Were You," "Fortunate Son," and more.
